Halloween Spider Cookies

In need of a cute and easy treat for your next Halloween?  Have no fear, spider cookies are here.  With a very minimal list of ingredients, this is a fun recipe to make with the kids.

Ingredients:

Peanut butter cookie mix

Rolo chocolates

Chocolate Twizzlers or black shoe string licorice 

Reeses Pieces candy

I do not like black licorice but found these chocolate Twizzlers very yummy!

I cut each Twizzler in half with kitchen shears and then made legs in the size I wanted. 

You can purchase the mini Reese Pieces or the regular size.  I used regular in the pictures below.  

Prepare the peanut butter cookie mix according to the package.  Make sure to flatten cookie balls with fork tines, in a cross cross design (sorry for not having a pic).  Bake as directed.

Once cookies are done and still hot, place Rolo chocolate on top of each cookie.  Doing this will help melt chocolate enough to allow the licorice legs and Reeses eyes to stick. Place 4 pieces of licorice on each side of the Rolo chocolate and place two Reeses for the eyes. Dot eyes with a black icing dot if you like and then you are... done!

TBT - Cancun

My advice to a young couple... enjoy yourselves, travel, explore, experience things together.  I can truly say that when my hubby and I started our relationship we did just that.  We love to travel and hope to continue to do that once the kids get old enough.  What a wonderful way to meet new people and be exposed to different cultures.  It makes us understand and appreciate others.

Here is one of the 1st trips we made together that brings back many memories.

The Sacred Well

The natural well was used by the ancient Mayans for sacrificial offerings.  At times the elderly used to sacrifice themselves so that they wouldn't be a burden to their families.  

This may look like just a hole in the ground but once you go in, you are lead to the most beautiful cave with crystal blue water.

The was one of the very first pins on our travel map and we would love to go back some day.

My Go To Seasonings

Here is a little peek into my spice cabinet.  For as long as I can remember I have been using all of the items below in different combinations.  Along with these spices I always keep fresh garlic and onion on hand because they always make any dish taste good.  For chicken, beef, and pork I usually make a marinade using a combination of a few items out of all the photos below.  Don't be afraid of them!

These are must haves in my cabinet.  If ever I am out of the fresh onion and garlic I have the powder as a back up.  Salt and pepper are very basic and are usually in all my dishes.  Then I use either oregano or rosemary, at times both.

Here is where I get my little hispanic flair.  Most of us who grew up in a hispanic household know what importance these items are in many dishes, from chicken to rice. Some for flavor others for color. (Note: Use the Bijol and Annatto in very small amounts.)

To make my marinade I usually use one or two of the liquids below.  No matter what combination you use they always seem to compliment each other.

There is no rhyme or reason in how I mix the items above.  These are great as starters and you can't go wrong.  Challenge yourself and start with one item out of every picture and season a basic chicken breast.  You will see how delicious the result and it will motivate you to try something different next time.

To Have & To Hold

I love weddings and I secretly love going through Pinterest finding new inspirations.  I helped a friend recently with a few things for her son's wedding and I was so excited with how it all turned out that I threatened to crash the wedding just to see how it all looked.  With my handy dandy Silhouette Cameo and a few late nights this is what we created.

The letters on the suitcases were cut out of vinyl.

We made the two signs hanging in the entryways.  See close ups below.

I love the colors of this mini banner.  

Instead of a traditional guest book the couple wanted their guests to sign a fabric square which will later be sewn into a Memory Quilt

My favorite sign turned out awesome.

The letters of this sign were cut with the machine.

Apple Picking

We had such a good time this past weekend apple picking.  Now that Tink and her little friends are a bit older we all jumped on the opportunity of driving a few miles away to the apple orchards.  Everyone was looking forward to picking yummy apples except Tink.  Ms. Moody wasn't having it.  Good thing with kids, they get over it rather quickly and I was happy to see she was in better spirits as the day progressed.

This is how the lovely morning started.  Someone didn't want to pick anything.

All of Tink's friend had a great time picking their hearts away.

Waiting in line for the pony rides.  I was very hopeful that if Tink saw her friends riding she would too.  Didn't work that way.

Since Tink didn't ride, little brother had no problem taking her spot.

Here are the awesome goodies we came back home with.   We had to tap into the apple cider while we were there,  couldn't wait.  

These bad boys were so good!  Apple cider cake donuts anyone?

After a fun filled day of apple picking, pony rides, and a wagon wide everyone was pooped.  Looking forward for the next time.
